Ronaldo is claimed to collect £971,000 for a single post on his page, which has 222million followers. Over the past year, he the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has sent out 43 sponsored posts from his account.

Another ex-Man United icon, David Beckham, continues to collect a sizeable amount and is the highest paid Brit on the list, while current United star Paul Pogba banks the most of any Premier League player through Instagram.

As mentioned, sports stars top the overall charts of celebrities who earn through Instagram.

Ronaldo is top of the tree, ahead of reality stars Kim Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

However, Ronaldo does not have the most amount of sponsored posts on Instagram, that goes to India cricket star Virat Kohli, who’s had 56 ads over the last twelve months.

Ronaldo is actually third with 43, while second place goes to Bayern Munich hotshot Robert Lewandowski. Messi is fifth with 40, just behind model and actor Cara Delevigne.
