Instagram models and other social media influencers are all starting to look the same. Known as the “Instagram Face,” the selfie-ready mug is a common look for many female celebrities. It also includes the kinds of features that many cosmetic surgery clients ask for in their appointments. What is the “Instagram Face,” and who has it?

‘Instagram Face’ is on the rise; what does it look like?

What is the definition of the Instagram face? Per writer Jia Tolentino in the New Yorker, it’s “a single, cyborgian face.” She continues:

It’s a young face, of course, with poreless skin and plump, high cheekbones … It looks at you coyly but blankly, as if its owner has taken half a Klonopin and is considering asking you for a private-jet ride to Coachella.

Tolentino continued that while the Instagram face is “distinctly white,” it’s also “ambiguously ethnic.”

A top plastic surgeon, Dr. Demetri Arnaoutakis talked to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about the concept of “Instagram face,” too.

“We’re now seeing uplifted eyes that appear ‘catlike,’ the lips are pouty, and the eyelashes are overly long,” he said. “Plus, the person’s foreheads are typically wrinkle-free.”

The popularity of social media is releasing the “taboo” of plastic surgery and Botox

In search of the social-media-approved face, many wanna-be models are already perfecting their Instagram posts with filters and apps.

“Art directors at magazines have long edited photos of celebrities to better match unrealistic beauty standards; now you can do that to pictures of yourself with just a few taps on your phone,” Tolentino explained. Apps like FaceTune make blemishes a thing of the past. One make-up artist told Tolentino:

“I think ninety-five percent of the most-followed people on Instagram use FaceTune, easily. And I would say that ninety-five percent of these people have also had some sort of cosmetic procedure.”

This is why, as he explained, plastic surgery is also getting “trendy—like, everyone’s getting brow lifts via Botox now.”

“Social media has played a huge role in the rise of cosmetic procedures,” Arnaoutakis agreed. He went on to explain why that mattered:

We have access to our favorite celebrity or influencer 24/7 now. And more importantly, a lot of them are open about which treatments they undergo. This has removed the taboo label from undergoing plastic surgery and has made it more commonplace to undergo certain procedures.

So, which celebs have the face everyone seems to want so bad?

“When you look at Kim, Megan Fox, Lucy Liu, Halle Berry, you’ll find elements in common,” a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon told Tolentino in the New Yorker. “the high contoured cheekbones, the strong projected chin, the flat platform underneath the chin that makes a ninety-degree angle.”

Tolentino also wrote that the Instagram face “suggests a National Geographic composite illustrating what Americans will look like in 2050.” Well, that is: “if every American of the future were to be a direct descendant of Kim Kardashian West, Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, and Kendall Jenner (who looks exactly like Emily Ratajkowski).”

Cosmetic surgeons report that the Instagram face features — “high arched brows with Botox like Kylie Jenner or high cheekbones like supermodel Bella Hadid” — are super in right now.

Still, one celebrity, in particular, stood out as the most-requested face at cosmetic surgery clinics.

“I’d say that thirty percent of people come in bringing a photo of Kim, or someone like Kim,” the surgeon explained to Tolentino. “She’s at the very top of the list, and understandably so.”

Arnaoutakis advised anyone interested in a potential procedure “to seek out an expert in the procedure they are considering having done.” Not to mention, hit the breaks on social media use, when you need to.

“There can be heavy psychological impacts from Instagram, as well. It is such a visual platform with a variety of filters that may, unfortunately, mislead our teenage population,” the doctor said.

Kylie Jenner has shared a sneak peek of her upcoming Kylie Cosmetics collaboration with her sister Kendall. 

The beauty mogul shared a photo on her Instagram Story of the product packaging, which shows Kylie and Kendall’s faces side by side. 

The mother-of-one captioned the post, “kendall collection coming soon,” and tagged her makeup company.

Supermodel Kendall also teased the upcoming collection on her Instagram Story, by sharing a screenshot of Kylie’s Instagram Live last night – in which she gave a sneak peek of their collaboration.

This is not the first time the famous duo have collaborated, as they also share their own clothing line, which is simply called Kendall & Kylie.

Kendall is the last of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters to collab with Kylie Cosmetics – as Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian have all released their own collections with the brand.

Their momager Kris also released her own range of products with Kylie Cosmetics back in 2018.

Earlier this year, Kendall admitted she couldn’t collab with Kylie before, because she had a contract with another makeup brand.

Speaking on The Ellen Show, Kendall confessed: “I had a contract before with another makeup company. So now I am able to do it. We’re really going big because I’m her full blood.”

It looks like Kendall’s collection with Kylie Cosmetics has been in the making for over a year, as fans spotted them working on the products in one of Kylie’s vlogs last year.

Kardashian took to Instagram on June 14 and shared a photo of her hugging a lamb while sporting the flannel. The same day, a fan page posted the picture alongside a photo of Disick in a similar shirt. The caption read, “KOURTNEY IS REALLY WEARING SCOTT’S FLANNEL!”

Fans commented on the similarities in the comment section, with one person writing: “When I saw that shirt, I raised an eyebrow.” Someone else seemed a bit skeptical, though, saying, “I hope that’s his flannel.”

As of writing, neither Kardashian or Disick has addressed the speculation.

According to Us Weekly, the photo was taken in Wyoming, where Kardashian is reportedly vacationing with Disick, their three kids, and the rest of their family.

“They’re all having a fun time doing family activities like swimming, etc,” an insider told the outlet.

The trip comes just weeks after Disick joined Kardashian and their kids for a vacation to Utah for Memorial Day weekend. The Utah getaway came on the heels of Disick’s split from Sofia Richie, whom he began dating in 2017. E! News reported at the time that Richie had called off their relationship so Disick could focus on issues that led to him spending time in rehab in late April.

“Sofia thinks Scott has a lot on his plate right now and thinks it’s best for them to be apart so he can focus on himself. She is only looking out for him and his best interest and it was primarily her decision for them to split,” the source shared. “Sofia has been spending time with her family and has taken the majority of her stuff out of Scott’s house.”

As he works to better himself, the E! News source also said he had been leaning on Kardashian for support.

“Kourtney knows how to handle Scott and he is always in a better headspace when he gets to spend time with his kids,” the insider continued, referencing the Utah trip. “She has really been there for him since his rehab exit, and has had a lot of sympathy towards him.”

Kourtney Kardashian’s romantic relationship with Scott Disick ended years ago

Kardashian and Disick dated off-and-on between 2006 and 2015. The Poosh founder broke up with Disick for good when he was seen partying with a group of women, including an ex-girlfriend. But despite their split, the two have remained friends and continue to co-parent their children.

“The truth is, my problems shouldn’t affect the kids,” Disick said in a 2019 interview with Us Weekly. “Just because their mother and I couldn’t make it as a perfect, romantic couple shouldn’t have anything to do with the kids. They don’t deserve our mistakes, so we figured out a way.”

Can the Kardashian-Jenners stay relevant now that they’re getting older? Many fans agree that interest in the family has already peaked and they might not have much left to offer on their reality show. With every family member embarking on other business ventures, they’ve diversified enough that they don’t need to depend on the TV show. And even though they’re all social media influencers, some fans think that the Kardashian-Jenners might struggle to hold on to relevancy — unless they start adding their kids into the mix more.

Have people lost interest in the Kardashian-Jenners?
Fans are still tuning in to Keeping Up With the Kardashians and following their every move on Instagram, but there are many who agree that interest in the family might fizzle eventually.

When one fan asked on Reddit, “Do you think that they will remain relevant this decade?,” there was some agreement that it might get progressively harder for the Kardashian-Jenners to keep people interested in their brands.

“I believe they will still be relevant and well known but less in the spotlight,” one Redditor shared, adding, “The show however I can’t imagine them doing it for another decade.”

Will their careers change?

The Redditor also had a full idea of some of the career avenues each of the sisters might explore. “Kim is trying to set up her future right now, we can see her making major changes in her life. I imagine her launching more products or even another brand and I think she‘ll go more into the producing role with other tv shows. I can see her being a part of more docuseries and her founding some sort of organization for justice reform,” they noted.

For Khloe, they anticipate her being on a show like The View or Fashion Police or even hosting a radio show and producing shows. They don’t think she’ll launch another brand, however. The Redditor also predicted that, since Kourtney wanted off the show, she might not be in the spotlight much except for her work on her lifestyle site Poosh. They added that “she‘ll probably do things like flipping houses but I just can‘t imagine her seeking attention from the public. She seems to be over being famous.”

Kendall, according to the Redditor, will continue modeling and “might launch a clothing brand herself” and possibly could pursue photography or acting.

“Kylie will ride the wave of being an influencer until the end,” the Redditor noted. “She might do more on her YouTube channel but I can‘t see her launching another brand. I think there will be an overhaul of Kylie Cosmetics and they will try make it more high end and less focused on her image. That way the brand won‘t have to rely as much on her popularity anymore and can stand for itself.”

Can the kids keep them relevant?

Many fans agreed that the Kardashian-Jenner sisters just aren’t as relevant anymore, given their ages. “I can see Kylie and Kendall staying relevant because of age,” one Redditor wrote, but explained that the older Kardashian sisters might not be as relatable. “Teenagers who will decide what future trends should be are more interested in influencers close to their age… not a 40 year old,” they wrote.

Other Reddit users agreed and some thought that bringing the kids into the mix might be the solution. One Redditor commented, “Their kids… the next generation” and another said that for Kim, Khloe, and Kylie specifically, “posting their kids on social media” could keep the momentum going.

Another Reddit user offered, This might be unethical of me but I do hope to see a spinoff with the kids IF (big if, don’t attack me) that is what they want. I would never want children to be forced into the limelight if they do not choose that life, but the selfish part of me is definitely SO curious on how they will grow up.”

Given how put-together Kylie’s Instagram is now, people were shocked by the model’s old photos.

“Glad to know she was like us at one point lol,” one person said.

“I was like… who is that???! But then realized it was still Kylie,” another user said.

“Life before the billion dollars,” a third person commented.

You might be surprised when finding out which of the Kardashians makes the most money on Instagram… Because it isn’t the family member with the most followers. According to a new study, apparently Kendall Jenner makes the most cash on Instagram with sponsored posts, that’s despite only having 131million followers – less than Kylie Jenner’s 180million and Kim Kardashian’s 176million.

Kendall apparently charges £560K per ad, meaning she’s raked in £21.2million in the last 12 months. Meanwhile, Kylie charges £1.2million, but as she has taken on less sponsored posts, she’s made only £16.2million. Kim doesn’t charge that much less at £861K per post, making £9.4million (according to a study from Buzz Bingo).

Nice work if you can get it.

Insta’s other top earners include Priyanka Chopra, who reportedly earned £3.3million last year, J Lo who pocketed £3.5million and Will Smith who made a cool £2.8million. Now we just need to become influencers, right?

It’s not as if the Kardashians need any more money though, even though Kylie recently lost her billionaire status after Forbes claimed her cosmetics company had ‘forged tax returns’ to inflate their numbers. Kylie wasn’t happy following the news, tweeting: ‘what am i even waking up to. i thought this was a reputable site.. all i see are a number of inaccurate statements and unproven assumptions lol. i’ve never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. period.’

She continued: ‘“even creating tax returns that were likely forged” that’s your proof? so you just THOUGHT they were forged? like actually what am i reading. but okay… i am blessed beyond my years, i have a beautiful daughter, and a successful business and i’m doing perfectly fine.’ The star concluded: ‘i can name a list of 100 things more important right now than fixating on how much money i have’.

Fans have called her out on not speaking up about politics

Though Jenner spends plenty of time on social media, she’s been called out for not bringing enough awareness to ongoing political, environmental, and social issues around the world. When the fires were burning in Australia, fans commented on Jenner’s posts, condemning her for not doing more to bring awareness to the problem. Jenner then posted to Instagram that she had donated $1 million to help fight the fires.

When George Floyd died in late May, Jenner once again came under fire for not speaking out enough about equality issues, though her Instagram has since picked up its coverage and dedication to the problem.  

Jenner’s post was just spammed by Trump supporters

Jenner recently took to Instagram to ask her followers to vote in the various primaries that were held on June 2. It was another way for Jenner to inform fans that she’s serious about supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. Jenner’s comments are normally spammed with followers typing “L” or “Follow” (as a means of gaining more likes and followers), but this time, it was Trump supporters who were filling the comments section.

Jenner’s post about voting was spammed by those asking people to vote Trump in 2020. Up and down the comments section, “Trump 2020” could be seen, with American flags, heart emojis, and exclamation points. Jenner did not respond to any of the comments.  

Celebrities have been taking on those against the BLM movement

Many celebrities of all races have posted to social media to inform black Americans that they stand with them in the fight for equality. And some have been directly fighting back when people vocalize their disagreement. Seth Rogan responded with a “f*ck you,” to anyone who disagreed with the movement. And Justin Bieber did the same when Trump supporters filled his comments after encouraging his followers to vote. Though Jenner didn’t respond to the comments, it’s possible she will acknowledge them at some point — maybe in another post.

Khloe Kardashian unveiled a dramatic new look this week as she revealed a new hair transformation. The stunning Keeping up with the Kardashians star took to social media on May 22 to give her 111.6 million followers a look at her hair as she showed off darker, shorter locks — but it wasn’t only her new ‘do that had some fans confused.

As reported by Cosmopolitan, the comments section was full of messages from fans who didn’t even recognize the mom of 2-year-old True Thompson as she struck a few sultry poses for the camera.

The upload in question, which can still be seen via Khloe’s Instagram account, was actually made up of three photos that showed Khloe with her brunette locks textured and down, sitting just below her shoulders. Her skin seriously glowed as she flashed her impressive tan in a white bustier top that plunged low at the chest with underwired cups and a corset-style fastening down her tummy.

She accessorized with a necklace featuring a delicate butterfly pendant and a pair of stud diamond earrings. Khloe stunned with long lashes and a nude lip.

In the first snap, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner’s sister flashed a smile for the camera as she looked directly into the lens while she posed in front of a plain white background.

In the second photo, she tilted her head to the left and pouted her full lips.

In the third and final photo, Khloe — who’s been locked down with the father of her daughter, Tristan Thompson, amid the ongoing pandemic — tilted her head upwards slightly and had her lips apart.

In the caption, Khloe joked that her location was “under b***hes skiiiinnnnn.”

The upload has attracted more than 4 million likes in only 14 hours as well as over 56,000 comments, many of which were from fans sharing their confusion over Khloe’s new look.

Plenty of fans questioned the snaps, as they claimed the new photos didn’t even look like the reality star.

“I don’t understand. Who is this?” one person asked in the comments section.

“You look beautiful but I didn’t recognize you. Please stop changing your appearance…” another Instagram user told Khloe.

“Girl, who is this?” a third comment read.

Khloe’s confusing new snaps came shortly after the star opened up about her changing appearance earlier this month, notably her post-baby weight loss after she welcomed True into the world back in April 2018.

As The Inquisitr reported earlier this month, Khloe confirmed that she now weighs 150 pounds as she opened up about how she dropped 60 pounds after she become a mom. The reality star credited a healthy diet and exercise for helping her to lose the baby weight.
