Emma Watson has responded to critics who roasted her about her Blackout Tuesday post.

What is Blackout Tuesday?

• Blackout Tuesday was a social media event that aimed to drown out new content so people could speak and engage with community. Entertainment industry leaders started the idea as many others around the country picked up on it and shared their own black squares.

What did Emma Watson post?

• Watson posted three simple black squares opposed to one. She added the hashtags #blackouttuesday, #theshowmustbepaused, #amplifymelanatedvoices and #amplifyblackvoices.
• Critics on social media slammed Watson, saying she added three squares to not ruin the aesthetic of her Instagram feed, according to Fox News. The critics said she posted the photo for her personal gain rather than as an activist. On Instagram, the top nine photos of a feed can be seen at once. Many influencers and users will post photos to rework how the entire feed looks.

How did she respond?

Watson shared another post that had the caption, “I stand with you.”

The image included four photos of a quote fromWatson, which read:

“There is so much racism, both in our past and present, that is not acknowledged nor accounted for. White supremacy is one of the systems of hierarchy and dominance, of exploitation and oppression, that is tightly stitched into society. As a white person, I have benefited from this.”

“Whilst we might feel that, as individuals, we’re working hard internally to be anti-racist, we need to work harder externally to actively tackle the structural and institutional racism around us. I’m still learning about the many ways I unconsciously support and uphold a system that is structurally racist.

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph may have decided to go their separate ways, but there are still a few Bachelor couples out there who remain stronger than ever. This is especially clear when it comes to Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen, though the rumor mill would have you thinking otherwise. Luckily, Becca and Garrett have given an update about their relationship and shut down the recent speculation that the two of them had called it quits.

“According to social media, @gy_yrigoyen and I broke up because he was gone fishing over the weekend,” Becca wrote on an Instagram Story on Sunday, May 31, alongside a video of the two of them cuddling in bed together with their adorable pup. Garrett also made a point to address the issue by reposting Becca’s Instagram Story to his own account the following day on Monday, June 1, signifying that the two of them are more united than ever and still going strong.

Becca and Garrett got engaged just over two years ago during the Season 14 finale of The Bachelorette back in 2018, when the final rose for Becca’s heart came down between Garrett and Blake Horstmann. At the end of the hour, she decided to accept Garrett’s proposal. And it seems the two of them have been happily engaged ever since.

The former Bachelorette posted a few throwback photos on Instagram for their anniversary on May 11, capturing the happiness they shared during his proposal. “Hey @gy_yrigoyen, remember when you opened the ring box backwards? That’s when I knew I was in for the time of my life,” Becca captioned the post. “Two years down, hopefully 68 more to go.”

Though as satisfied as they are with their relationship, the duo isn’t looking to head down the aisle anytime soon. “We’ve had so many family members get married. Like my sister, and his brother just got married in the past year and had babies and my cousins and some of his best friends are getting married,” Becca told Us Weekly back in October 2019 when asked about their pending nuptials. “I’m like, ‘Let’s get ideas from them, let’s let them have their moment and then eventually once we’re ready and fully settled [we can begin planning our wedding].’”

Given that the world is currently experiencing a global pandemic, that day may not be anywhere in the immediate future, but rest assured that these two are a ship built to last.

On this auspicious day when the world doesn’t seem to be spinning quite the right way any more, many people around the world, even here in Kenya, are taking to social media to make their feelings known. According to the tags, the BlackoutTuesday hashtag is being used on social media platforms to show solidarity to the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Rules of BlackoutTuesday

You must have seen a few people on social media, especially Instagram, posting a ‘black blank image’. Well, that’s just part of what this entire hashtag is about. It’s important to note that this comes in light of police brutality incidences in the United States. Most notably, what happened to George Floyd, who was murdered on camera while being arrested by a police officer.

The rules of the hashtag state that:

1. You must not post anything else on social media today except for the blank black screen.
2. You should suspend all music streams and Youtube Streams for the day.
3. Cancel/close/suspend all dance studios, classes and meetings for the day.
4. Identify ways to help the community you live in
5. Take the time off social media to familiarize yourself with contemporary race relations. Moreover the history of black social political and economic plight.

The blackout may have been intended for the US but it seems like everyone around the world is participating in it. Social media favourites from Xtian Dela and Yummy Mummy to Tom Holland and Liza Koshy are all participating in this movement.

Should you want to participate, just post the image on social media and follow the rest of the rules. However, just as diverse as social media is, not everyone is up for it. Most users state that it is drowning out important posts that need to be seen regarding the matter.

I, however, feel it is a choice to take a minute to reflect on what is happening. There has been a lot of information overload over the past few days. As the tag suggests, we should take time to understand what is happening before we get back to our keyboards.

A model who makes a whopping $60,000 by smoking weed on Instagram says her ‘dreams have come true’.

The Instagrammer boasts 282,000 followers on her Instagram page, which largely consists of photos of her smoking weed and posing in her underwear.

Simply known as Sewkey, the 29-year-old from California, USA – where cannabis is legal for recreational purposes – used to earn $9 an hour as a waitress before ‘reinventing herself’ through social media.

Speaking about going through a low point in her life and battling anxiety and depression, Sewkey said she feels like she’s pressed the reset button on her life.

She said:

I was suffering from depression for some time after going through some traumatic experiences and I was honestly confused as to where I was headed in life.

I decided to turn to social media to kind of just let go and free my mind from the trauma and stress and it was kind of like a way to reinvent myself, like pressing the reset button or backspace button. So I made this calculated and determined decision to become an Instagram model.

It was an extremely good way to keep me focused on setting goals. A way to keep my mind from wandering, and was a big help to my mental state.

She added that becoming an Instagram model forced her out of her depression and ‘into grind mode’ because she felt like she had a purpose.

Giving rapper Wiz Khalifa a run for his money, Sewkey admitted to smoking up to 20 joints a day explaining that it keeps her ‘cool, collected and calm’.

Currently an ambassdor for Raw Rolling Papers, Sewkey hopes to one day create her own cannabis brand.

As well as business purposes, Sewkey spoke about how smoking weed has helped her anxiety and depression too.

She said:

Marijuana is really a godsend and has many many therapeutic effects! I enjoy rolling joints; it’s extremely relaxing.

The reason I incorporated cannabis into my brand is because I love to smoke, I’m a true stoner. Being that I have a fanbase now, I felt that making the footprint in the cannabis world is a main goal for me.

Along with the racy photos of her smoking weed, her fans have asked some very strange requests from her.

Speaking about one in particular, Sewkey said someone asked if they could ‘suck a fart’ out her bum. Gross.

Despite the odd weird request, she said her life is amazing and that her ‘dreams have come true’.

She added, ‘Success via social media has really changed my life. I get to chill, smoke, and be myself; goofy, sexy and cute.’

Sounds like Sewkey really is living the high life.

Tahlia Skaines gave her 526,000 Instagram followers something to talk about on Monday, June 1, when she shared a smoking hot update. The 22-year-old model looked incredibly stunning in a new scanty Lounge Underwear set, which flaunted her killer curves.

In the update, Tahlia slipped into a black bra-and-panty combo, made of sheer and lace fabric. The bra boasted a deep neckline that exposed her decolletage. The underwire that provided support pushed her breast up, which showcased a generous amount of cleavage. The signature Lounge logo was printed all-over the center gore and the wings.

The pair of undies Tahlia sported boasted high leg cuts that helped accentuate her slender hips. The low-cut waistband highlighted her flat tummy and chiseled abs. Like the bra, the bottom were made of the same material. The sides were lace, and the front was sheer — which contained the brand’s logo.

Tahlia took a snap of her insane figure in what seemed like her dressing room. Although the racy snapshot did not reveal her face, it featured a nice view of her upper thighs up until her shoulders. She seemingly stood in front of a nearby window with her legs apart. She popped her left hip to the side and took the selfie. The bright sunlight illuminated her flawlessly, tanned complexion.

The idea of the snap was to show her followers the new underwear set from Lounge Underwear. In the caption, she shared with her fans that liked the pieces so much that she’ll wear them many times this week. She also made sure to tag the company’s Instagram page in both the post and the photo.

The new share proved to be a hit with Tahlia’s online admirers. As of this writing, the post has received more than 5,200 likes and upward of 80 comments. Many of her fans and followers took to the comments section to shower her with compliments. Many raved about her enviable physique and bronzed skin. Others decided to express their thoughts on the photo by simply dropping a string of emoji.

Jenna Cooper is officially a mom. On Saturday, May 30, the Bachelor in Paradise alum announced that she’d welcomed a new addition to her family along with a sweet photo of the infant. Jenna Cooper’s Instagram of her newborn daughter Presley includes the bundle of joy’s brand new IG handle so fans can follow along on her earliest moments.

Hours after giving birth to her daughter, Cooper — who’s shared her pregnancy journey with fans on the social media platform since announcing she was expecting in a January announcement — exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly that she’d welcomed her first child with boyfriend Karl Hudson on Saturday.

“We can’t even describe the overwhelming love and happiness we feel meeting our little sunshine!” the couple told the publication in a statement. “We are so thankful for everyone’s support, and can’t wait to share more fun updates.”

The new mom also took to Instagram to share a first look at her daughter with three photos from the Us Weekly shoot. In the first photo of the happy family, Cooper can be seen cradling Presley — who’s wearing a floral onesie and matching headband — along with Hudson. The rest of the slideshow shows the couple holding their new addition, as well as a video of the newborn fast asleep at the hospital. The Bachelor alum also shared some more details about Presley in the Instagram post, including revealing that her baby girl already has an Instagram account.

“What a crazy and amazing last couple days,” Cooper told her fans. “I am so excited to introduce you to our baby girl: Presley Belle Hudson! She ended up being 7lbs 7oz. and 20.75 inches long, and we are already so in love. She also has a full head of brown hair, and the sweetest personality!”

The reality star, who dated Arie Luyendyk Jr. on Season 22 of The Bachelor and briefly got engaged to Jordan Kimball on Season 5 of Bachelor in Paradise, first announced that she was expecting in January.

“I hope you know that I already love you more than I could have imagined possible,” Cooper wrote on Instagram at the time along with photos of her baby bump. “I hope you chase all of your dreams, and I’ll be there supporting you the whole way. I hope you get my spirit and sense of humor, and never stop laughing. I hope you get your daddy’s thoughtfulness and work ethic, and never stop being curious. While Cooper might not have found love on TV, she also revealed that she and Hudson had been dating for a year that same month.

The one who didn’t care what show I was on, what drama was made up about me, or how many broken pieces of my heart he had to glue back together.”
