2Pac Instagram Shares 1969 Letter By Afeni Shakur

The official 2Pac Instagram ran by the Estate shares a letter written by Afeni Shakur while incarcerated in 1969.

The letter written by Afeni Shakur was featured on the Black Panther Newspaper on Saturday June 7, 1969. Afeni a member of the Black Panther Party wrote the letter hoping to inspire and continue the fight for freedom.

“I am writing this note in hopes that it will inspire at least one of those paper Panthers to get out into the community and do the work of the people,” Afeni wrote. “During my incarceration, I have found tht there is a great need for the sisters and brothers to know the true meaning of “Power To The Power”.

In April of 1968, Afeni Shakur was arrested at her Harlem apartment in New York. Afeni was accused of conspiring with other Black Panther members to carry out bombings in New York.

Afeni choose to defend herself without any law degree to back her decision, but was eventually acquitted after spending two years in prison. During her time in prison, she was pregnant with Tupac Shakur.

“We will do whatever the people deem necessary to attain these basic needs. We will go to jail, we will be murdered, we will be prosecuted and most of all we will love for the people,” Afeni Shakur wrote in her letter.

Tupac’s music reflected these revolutionary roots instilled in him by his mother Afeni Shakur. As the world protests police brutality and racism, Tupac’s 1998 hit ‘Changes’ which addresses these same issues, has become the anthem.

Also shared on the Instagram post was the Black Panther Party 10-Point Program. Freedom, full employment, housing, education, clothing, justice and peace rounded up the 10-point program.

Meet the Santanas!

On Saturday, Raymond Santana Jr. — famously known as one of the exonerated “Central Park Five” men — and Flavor of Love star Deelishis tied the knot in Duluth, Georgia, six months after they got engaged.

Santana, 45, shared several Instagram photos of the happy couple posing together for their wedding pictures, writing on each of the photos, “#THESANTANAS….”

Deelishis (née Chandra Davis) wore a stunning white dress for the nuptials, while Santana opted for a white suit with a black vest and black bowtie.

The VH1 reality star, 42, also shared a look at the wedding on her Instagram Story, including videos of her throwing the bouquet and dancing with fellow guests.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss was among the attendees and shared an Instagram photo with the happy couple. “Congratulations @santanaraymond & @iamsodeelishis!!!!! I’m so happy for y’all & I’m happy to say that I had a little something to do with this love connection! ❤️❤️,” she wrote.

The Bravo star shared another photo of just she and Deelishis, writing, “Sorry fellas she’s off the market now! ? @iamsodeelishis ??.”

In December, Santana and Deelishis announced they were engaged, sharing videos on Instagram that showed Santana asking her to marry him at a restaurant.

Reps for both Deelishis and Santana also confirmed the engagement to PEOPLE at the time.

The couple, who both have children from previous relationships, confirmed they were dating in October after Santana had been posting photos with Deelishis for some time.

Deelishis was a contestant on season 2 of VH1’s Flavor of Love. She won the competition after she was chosen over Tiffany “New York” Pollard.

Santana, meanwhile, gained national attention last year following the release of Ava Duvernay‘s hit Netflix series When They See Us, which explores the false convictions of five men — Korey Wise, Yusef Salaam, Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson and Santana — when they were accused of raping a woman in New York City’s Central Park in 1989.

In 2002, their convictions were vacated and they have since received a settlement from New York City of more than $40 million.

Brittany Brees apologizes in Instagram message: ‘We are the problem’

Chris Cwik

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is in apology mode. After being ripped by teammates — and many others — after accusing NFL players who kneel of “disrespecting the flag,” Brees issued multiple apologies for his comments. He even responded directly to President Donald Trump, telling Trump the protests were not about the flag.

Following her husband’s lead, Brittany Brees issued her own statement Saturday. She apologized for not listening to what led to the protests, and vowed to do better.

Brees’ picture consists of two Martin Luther King quotes. In the text area, Brees explained why she is part of the problem. Brees said she educated her kid about “the horrors of slavery and history,” but added that’s not enough. Brees added that “white America is not hearing” the issues. She apologized to “friends and anyone we hurt,” and promised to listen and to do better.

Drew Brees received plenty of backlash after his initial comments, the most striking of which came from Saints players like Malcolm JenkinsEmmanuel Sanders and Michael Thomas. Citizens of New Orleans weren’t happy either, as they chanted “f— Drew Brees” at a protest.

Brees’ apologies set things right with Thomas, who expressed a desire to focus on the season. Other members of the Saints echoed that sentiment. Not every NFL player feels the same. New York Jets safety Jamal Adams called Brees’ apology “bulls—.”

It will be up to Brittany and Drew Brees to prove that’s not the case. Both have expressed a willingness to change, now they have to show it with their actions.

Twitter: How To Share Someone’s Video Without Retweeting

It is actually possible to post a Twitter video from another user without having to retweet their Tweet. While the process is simple enough, it does vary slightly depending on whether using an Android smartphone or an iPhone. There’s also a pretty simple way to tweet someone else’s video using the desktop version of Twitter as well.

Twitter is a popular platform for individuals looking to express themselves, in spite of the limited number of characters a user can put in a single Tweet. One of the easiest ways to overcome the character limitation is to include media and visual assets. These not only add the visual element to a post, but can also further add context, or expand on a point being made. For example, while a user can only post so many characters, they can easily record a video and share that, with the video going into far more detail than the limited number of characters ever could. Similarly, there are times when a user might want to share someone else’s video, but not actually share their Tweet.

There are many reasons why you might want to share someone else’s video without actually retweeting. One reason could be to create a unique post with just the text, message and video without another account, or information in the original Tweet included. Being able to retweet just the video in this case, results in a more streamlined post with just the user’s Twitter account and message. Likewise, Twitter users don’t have to worry about promoting another account that they do not know anything about. Twitter is all about users voicing their own opinions and this way video posts can be personalized exactly to the user’s requirements. As detailed in a Medium post, there are multiple ways to share a video on Twitter, including via mobile phone and the desktop browser.

Sharing Videos On Twitter Without Retweeting

Twitter Retweets

All iPhone users need to do is find the video they wish to share and then hold down on the video’s play button. This will open the settings menu that includes options like “Tweet video” or “Share Via.” Clicking on the Tweet Video option will generate a Twitter URL in a new Tweet message. Then it is just a matter of customizing the text before hitting sending. For Android users, the process is a little different. First, find the video to be shared and then copy the URL. Compose a Tweet as normal and then paste the URL link in the Tweet. To ensure you only reshare the video, “/video/1” (without the quotation marks) needs to be added to the end of the pasted URL.

For those wanting to share a Twitter video using a desktop computer and the browser version of Twitter, there’s a way to that too. While not as smooth sailing, it’s doable and becomes easier with practice. First, find the Twitter video to be shared and then click on the drop-down arrow in the top-right hand corner of the Tweet. This will open the settings menu which includes an “Embed Tweet” option. Click this and then select the “Copy Code.” This code will then need to be pasted somewhere else and the video link extracted. For reference, this is usually the second link in the code and typically starts with “https://t.co.” Once the correct link is found, copy and paste it directly into a new Tweet and when published, only the Twitter video will have been shared.

In conjunction with release week for Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica,” the artist enjoyed another big week on YouTube.

According to preliminary data for the May 29-June 4 tracking week, Gaga amassed approximately 157 million global streams across official uploads and select user-generated content. Her most supportive cities included Bangkok (4.03 million views), Jakarta (2.24 million views), and Quezon City (1.73 million views).

“Bad Romance,” an even earlier hit, took #4 with 6.32 million.

Lead “Chromatica” single “Stupid Love” earned #5 with 5.24 million, while early hit “Poker Face” grabbed #6 with 4.5 million.

“Sine From Above (with Elton John),” a “Chromatica” track, followed at #7 with 3.46 million views. “A Star Is Born” standout “I’ll Never Love Again (with Bradley Cooper)” earned #8 with 3.3 million. “Chromatica” tracks “Alice” (3.16 million) and “911” (3.08 million) followed at #9 and #10, respectively.

Her next-highest ranking songs were as follows:

On Breonna Taylor’s Birthday, Solange Calls for Justice

“I want to be more like you Breonna Taylor. A better sister, friend, and human.”

  • Solange shared a tribute to Breonna Taylor on Instagram to mark what would have been Taylor’s 27th birthday.
  • The singer demanded justice for Breonna Taylor, who was killed by police in mid-March.
  • Solange’s Instagram account only features two Instagram posts right now, both of which highlight Black Lives Matter.

Solange Knowles is using her platform to demand justice for Breonna Taylor.

Taylor, an emergency medical technician from Louisville, Kentucky, was shot and killed by police after they forcefully entered her home on a “no-knock” warrant in mid-March of this year. On Friday, Taylor would have turned 27, and her friends and family members paid tribute to her and called for justice.

Solange took to Instagram to share photos of Taylor, and to commemorate her birthday. She wrote, “I want to be more like you Breonna Taylor. A better sister, friend, and human. More kind. More positive. More intentional. Less judgmental. Less fazed by shit that doesn’t matter. More dependable and moving with more care, light, and love.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBEeS9vpEFL/?utm_source=ig_embed

She continued:

“Your friends and cousin say that you were the ‘show up and never disappoint’ friend… that you would throw all negativity out the door. I wish you were there with them all today celebrating. You should be with them all here celebrating in all your radiance. I don’t know WHERE tf I’d be with out my sisters and reading about your life, I know you were all their rock. Ms. Tamika Palmer, Ju’Niyah, Katrina, Alena, Erinicka, Clarissa, Preonia, Shatanis…. thank you all for sharing her with the world today. I hope we are all doing due justice by lifting her spirit up in light today. Thank you Eva Lewis for writing a piece that illustrated her beautiful power. I want to be more like you Breonna. Happy Birthday beautiful one ?.”

Solange also deleted almost all of her previous Instagram posts, and is using the platform to highlight Breonna Taylor and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Lady Gaga and Selena Gomez let black leaders take over their Instagram accounts

Alexander Kacala,TODAY

Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga, who have a combined Instagram following of 200 million, announced they’ll be handing over their social media accounts to influential leaders and organizations to help amplify black voices and causes. This comes amid calls for social justice and support for the Black Lives Matter movement after the death of George Floyd, who was killed by a former Minneapolis police officer.

“Starting tomorrow, I’m giving over my Instagram account to each of the organizations I’ve recently donated to, in an effort to amplify their important voices,” Gaga wrote on Friday. “And after I vow to regularly, in perpetuity, across all of my social media platforms, post stories, content, and otherwise lift up the voices of the countless inspiring members and groups within the Black community.”

So far Gaga has featured leaders from the organization Community Justice Action Fund, a nonprofit working to end gun violence in communities of color.

Gomez, who became the most followed celebrity on Instagram in 2016, said she had been “struggling to know the right things to say to get the word out about this important moment in history.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBCE8QOlid5/?utm_source=ig_embed

“After thinking about how best to use my social media, I decided that we all need to hear more from Black voices,” she said. “Over the next few days I will be highlighting influential leaders and giving them a chance to take over my Instagram so that they can speak directly to all of us. We all have an obligation to do better and we can start by listening with an open heart and mind.”

On Friday, Gomez featured Alicia Garza, a co-creator of Black Lives Matter, as well as a podcaster and creator of Black Future Labs, a group working to “make Black communities powerful in politics.”

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CBEAbcyAD4l/?utm_source=ig_embed

Garza posted a video to Gomez’s feed, where she articulated the importance of police taking accountability after the killings of black people.

“People are in the streets right now because black people are being murdered by police and police are not being held accountable,” she said to Gomez’s 179 million followers. “This is a big, big problem. Everybody is taught that if you do something wrong, you have to make it right. And when it comes to black folks and police, there is a dynamic where black people are being murdered — sometimes on camera, sometimes not — by police and police are not having to make it right.”
